Who Gets Paid When You Listen?

Music is everywhere. But the people who write it, produce it,

and bring it to life often make next to nothing from your streams.

Music plays in the stores you shop, the restaurants you eat at, the shows you stream, and the posts you scroll. It’s the soundtrack to our lives.

But who gets paid when you listen?

Streaming platforms and record labels take 85% of the revenue, leaving just 15% for music creators to split. Most music creators aren’t earning a livable wage, that's the hard truth.

Every five years, the government decides how much songwriters and producers get paid from streaming. While labels and streaming companies get to show up with lawyers, trade groups, and billions to protect their share.

They get to negotiate. Music creators don’t.

That’s why we created the Music Creator Fund. Founded by The 100 Percenters Foundation, this donor-powered fund will provide direct financial support, The 100 Percenters Career Stimulus Grant Program, which offers financial assistance to songwriters and producers facing economic hardship.

Help us support the people who make the music you love.
